accordionist, composer and accordion teacher, has a master´s degree in music from the Sibelius Music Academy. He performs with various music groups representing the diverse styles of music in Finland, Europe, the USA, Canada and Australia. Currently Pekka Pentikäinen works with violinists Perttu Paappanen (Finland) and Ruthie Dornfield (USA).
His new project is CCP, a Finnish-Australian trio with violinist Chris Duncan and pianist Catherine Strutt. Besides Finnish folk music the band plays Pekka´s compositions, Scottish and Australian music.
Pekka´s latest CD "Kannas" consisting mainly of his own compositions was released in 2007.
The Finnish Folk Music Association has awarded Pekka a silver medal for his exceptional contributions to Finnish folk music.
